El Camino de Santiago: A Devotional
Join me on a pilgrimage to Santiago!
Many have heard of El Camino de Santiago, or the Way of St. James. Some have had the opportunity to experience it, to walk one of the numerous routes to Santiago de Compostela. Far more have read the book of St. James, perhaps multiple times.
In this month-long devotional we will follow both of them. I’ll be sharing what I learned along the way, walking from Porto to Santiago de Compostela, while reading through the book of James. Each day a new devotional post will be available.
Day 1: El Camino de Santiago: Walking with St. James
When does a pilgrim officially become a pilgrim? Join me on the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, including a study of the book of James.

Day 2: Beginning in Porto
When beginning my pilgrimage on El Camino I explored facing trials with joy and discovering deeper communion with God.

Day 3: Arriving in Matosinhos

Finishing the first day of pilgrimage on El Camino, I thought about James’ words on endurance, faith-testing, and the pursuit of perfection.
Day 4: Matosinhos to Vila Chã
On the second day of walking El Camino: Battling coastal winds, seeking God’s wisdom, and embracing the call to serve in God’s kingdom.

Day 5: Vila Chã to S. Pedro de Rates
On El Camino, doubts and faith intersect. We discover the significance of seeking wisdom and trusting God’s guidance in physical challenges.

Day 6: Rates to Barcelos
Reflections on humility, wealth, and the value of the journey while walking El Camino. Explore the power of gratitude through this pilgrimage.

Day 7: Barcelos to Balugães
Join me on day five of the journey along El Camino. Reflect on the beauty of nature, wealth’s transience, and the significance of gratitude.

Day 8: Balugães to Ponte de Lima
Walking El Camino I explored trials, perseverance, and the promises of eternity. On a steep path the Water of Life is necessary and refreshing.

Day 9: The Day of Rest
As I experience a day of rest on El Camino, I reflect on testing, temptation, and the simplicity of a God-centered life.

Day 10: Ponte de Lima to Rubiães
On El Camino, I engaged in conversations, reflecting on God’s gifts and recognizing the importance of listening to Him.

Day 11: Rubiães to Quinta Estrada Romana (Valença)
On a short day’s walk, I contemplated being a doer, not just a hearer of God’s word, recognizing Jesus as a loving Shepherd guiding my path.

Day 12: Valença to Porriño
